Building on the success of the Natural Health Clinic in 1981, Rebecca du Plessis and Kristian Townsend are looking to expand the reach of their health-centric enterprise with the launch of the Health Hub, a one-stop community health centre situated directly beneath the hub, containing the Hub Café, with a wide selection of fresh, hand-made vegetarian and vegan food, as well as cold-pressed juices and smoothies. The Health Hub is more than just a café however, as being part of an alternative health centre offers a wide array of classes and treatments, from parent and baby yoga classes to acupuncture and osteopathy. The Health Hub even offers a continuing array of advice and health tips through their own Radio Station on BCfm 93.2!
Rebecca du Plessis, Director said
“We need to invest in some items and services to ensure the full vision of the first Hub is realised (namely some more kitchen equipment, membership, IT and education, transport for outreach and delivery and more). Once we have launched and tested all the planned aspects of the first Hub, we can seek further investment for replicating the Hub in other locations.”
Health Hub CIC is a unique and innovative community-minded enterprise that has experienced over 30 years of continual growth. For their latest expansion they looked at a variety of funding options, and realised that the best way to provide ethical and sustainable funding for a community project was to involve the community itself! Through Fundsurfer, the Health Hub CIC offer a range of donation options, allowing each member to put in what they want to get out in return.
Profits generated by the company are invested into community outreach and education, with the overarching goal of expanding the Hub’s influence over the UK, allowing more and more people to discover fresh, non-medicated alternatives to a healthy, nutritious and active lifestyle.
