In a world where the need for change is only becoming more evident, traditional social media platforms are failing us. These platforms should be leading the charge in facilitating positive social change. Yet, time and time again, profit and data collection has been held above progress, and positive change has been thwarted.

CAUSE is the ethical not-for-profit social media platform designed to give activists and organisers a dedicated platform to communicate, organise and effect change, confident in their safety and role in larger global networks dedicated to progress.

•  Always know when you can make a difference. Follow movements you feel passionately about and receive need-to-know updates: upcoming protests, urgent appeals, and vital safety and planning information.

•  Supporting your safety and security. Always feel safe during direct actions with our emergency SOS system: instantly release a customised message to an emergency contact in case of trouble during a protest or action.

•  Confidence through real-time communication. During protests and other actions, organisers are able to directly communicate with participating activists, providing the capacity for participants to receive vital updates.

•  Maintaining your privacy. All your data is fully end-to-end encrypted. Nobody can read your data, not even the developers! Our encryption methods will be shared with the public, so you can verify all our claims for yourself.

•  An ethical business model. Our commitment to a strong standard of ethics extends to every part of CAUSE. This includes our business model. We're a non-profit: we pledge never to run ads, and we will never change our commitment to strong encryption. We value input from the community: anyone, for free, can become a member of CAUSE PLATFORM LIMITED and have their say in how we operate and develop.

We're a group of students at Cambridge University, passionate about social change, technology and design. We want to support activists on their mission to make the world a better place by providing them with the information, safety and security to protest, demonstrate, and act. Growing misuse of data and unethical social media practices that propagate the rise of hatred, intolerance, and profiteering have motivated us to develop a platform that rejects these regressive values. Instead, we're creating a platform that puts the user, their privacy, and their message first.
