About me
I'm Stephen Hayles, co-founder and lead organiser of Upfest - The Urban Paint Festival, established in 2008 by a small team of like minded individuals who just wanted to create a space for artists to come together, have a paint and show off their skillz. The team, now made up of 80+ volunteers, will host 400 artists from across the globe painting in front of 50,000 visitors to what has become the largest & FREE event of it's kind in Europe.

About this project
The ethos of our festival is inclusion, therefore keeping the festival as a free event has been our goal for the past ten years. Every year our team spend months gaining appropriate sponsors, traders and local businesses to support our independant festival, but with costs over £125,000 we're asking those that can afford it to once again help out as they so often have done and see Upfest continure for many years to come.
Our 2018 festival budget breaks down as follows:
Materials & Equipment 24% // Security, First Aid & Cleaning 20% // Artist Materials & Costs 16% (£20,000), Marketing 11%, Management Fees & Admin 8%, Insurance & Licences 7%, Location Costs 7%, Other Costs 7%
We need to raise £20,000 towards this years costs, supporting attending artists with materials and the equipement needed to paint our huge walls.

As if supporting such an amazing event was not enough and also being rewarded with spectacular gifts, everyone who donates to the festival will be entered into a free prize draw for a festival weekend stay at our offical festival hotel partner the Mercure at The Grand Hotel, situated in the heart of the city.
A two night stay (Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th of July, Room for 2) is up for grabs in this stunning listed building. Mercure Grand Hotel, having recently undertaken a £4million renovation of this historic building, artwork at the hotel was provided by Upfest artists to give a unique blend of street art style against the hotels stunning Victorian features.

The team
Upfest is made up of three full time members, five directors, twenty year round key volunteers and another fifty helping out over the festival period. If you can't support financially but are able to offer some time please fill out our online volunteer form HERE
