Save our Service Veterans is a based in Parkhead Glasgow. and offers support to veterans and the community via gardening and football.

Who Are We?

Save our Service Veterans was started in October 2016 by John Nobel in Parkhead Glasgow. The organisation is in the process of registering as a charitable trust here in Scotland. John is a veteran of the Royal Logistics Corps and saw service with 3 back to back tours in Bosnia, where the things he witnessed led to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. To help with his recovery he started a gardening project in a disused community garden in Parkhead. This is where he helps other veterans and members of the communty who struggle with mental health health issues. The difference the community garden project has made to them is immense. They group also plays foottball on a regular basis and have been invited to play an "International" against veterans of the Welsh Guards in Wales. This game is due to be played in July. If succesful a return match will be organised in Glasgow. The group's key aims are to help service veterans and members of the community by being inclusive to all who have mental health issues.

Why are we fundraising?

A promised gift of a minibus has fallen through and we need to buy a second hand 16 seater minibus to get these service veterans mobile. The minibus will enable the group to get to the International friendly in Wales as well as get around the city on a daily and weekly basis on their various football and volunteer gardening projects. It will enable them to help more people, by collecting those who otherwise would not be able to get to the community gardens.

Please help me help the Save our Service Veterans ho are doing some excellent work in the community and could do sp much more if they could make use of the minibus. The work these people are doing is giving so much benefit to those suffering from mental health issues.
