Please help us raise as much as we can for UK charity, the Hands Up Foundation, which sends aid to Syrian refugees in camps in Lebanon and Turkey, including emergency relief to survive the harsh winter.
We achieved our initial target of £2000 and have now raised our goal to £3000. Please help us smash that too!
As a focus of our charity appeal, we held a successful fundraising weekend of Stories and Songs for Syrian refugees in Gloucestershire, UK, on 4 - 5 February 2017. Syrian picture book author and illustrator Nadine Kaadan and multilingual music teachers Babel Babies teamed up to host a music, storytelling and art event for the Syrian refugee children who have recently come to live in our county together with local families who wanted to learn more about Syria and Middle Eastern art and culture. We raised £400 in cash over the weekend at both Stories and Songs for Syrians events.
Our Stories and Songs project has been featured in The Gloucestershire Echo, BookRiot and Qantara magazines. All this publicity and buzz on social media (#SingingforSyrians) meant we exceeded our initial £2000 target with a fortnight to go, so we decided to set a new goal of raising £3000 here online.
Please help us reach this target by continuing to mention this initiative to your friends and talkingabout the invaluable work of the Hands Up Foundation in helping Syrians in refugee camps, and please forward this Fundsurfer link to them.
Besides Babel Babies and Nadine Kaadan's publisher Lantana Publishing, this fundraising campaign has been generously supported by GARAS, Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees, Saqi Books, Penguin UK, The Friendship Cafe, the Suffolk Anthology Bookshop, Baker & Graze bakery and restaurant, and children's book author Sheila Hoeman. Hands Up Foundation is a UK registered charity (charity no. 1156491.)
Please note that your donation will be taken from your account on 17 February and your reward gift will be sent to you then, if you requested one.
Thank you! Shukran! شكرا
