Tangent Books. How do you explain what we do? A company with a small catalogue of eclectic books, inspired by Bristol’s counter-culture philosophy? A publisher that searches for quality in the unexpected? A rarity in the modern age of publishing – a book publisher that takes artistic risks, a publisher where “how much money will it make?” is often the last question asked when considering a new book?

It all started with The Naked Guides to Bristol and Bath in 2004 and has developed into a catalogue of ideas, of documentation and record, a catalogue of the other, the decidedly not mainstream. A catalogue that represents a publishing house that exists at a tangent to the predictable and the commercial. A catalogue dedicated to great books produced by great people.
