TheMechanics'Trust

The Mechanics' Institution Trust is a Heritage Preservation and Community Development Trust based in Swindon.  We have a particular focus on the Railway Village Conservation Area, including both the built environment and the associated social heritage.  We manage community facilities and run events, including the annual town-wide community cutural event 'The Children's Fete', which is this year celebrating it's 150th Anniversary!

We believe that heritage can create unique, enjoyable places and experiences for people.

We believe passionately in Swindon; its history, heritage and culture; its future opportunity and most importantly its people.

We want to recapture the pioneering spirit and character that created “New Swindon” to inspire our town today.
